XVID avi with MP3 sound to DVD=No Sund

Hello, I'm not a newbie, but facing real problems converting several XVID avis to a Video DVD. This is what GSpot stats:
Audio Format:
Code: 0x0055
Name: WAVE_FORMAT_MPEGLAYER3 (MP3)
Vendor: ISO/MPEG
The following codecs all claim to be capable of processing this format:
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (advanced)
LAME MP3 Codec v0.9.0 - 3.96 (stable)
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional)
MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
But VirtualDub tells me: bla, audio decompression not possible, ~ check codec. TMPGEnc dont dissplay any audio file. Ulead just no sound etc. But playback on PC works fine with sound. Just the conversion wont work. Funny, some files from same source work, some not. Does anybody have an idea, or are the files just corrupt?

Open the XVid file in VirtualDub. Convert it to Divx and recompress the audio. Have no idea if this will work, but you could try.

thx or your reply, but VirtualDub does not opens this files. It doesn't recognize the mp3 layer of the Divix4 file. It said: decompression not possible, check codec. But GSot says everithing ok, as mentioned.
