AC3 Really quiet

I have an avi file that has AC3...I can hear most everything well, but its like the peoples voices are muffled. I can hear background noises perfectly, its just the people talking that I can hardly hear at all. Anyone know why this is happening?

If the AVI is a file that you "Downloaded", then there is no telling how the file was originally encoded or what the source was. Load the file into "VirtualDubMod". Go to "File" > "File Information" and post the information in both the video and audio sections of the dialog box.

The only thing I can suggest you can do to is to "Boost" the volume level of the AVI. Open the file in VirtualDubMod. Go to "File" > "Open Video File". Then go to "Stream" > "Stream List". Right-click at the top on the audio stream name and select "Full Processing Mode". Right-click on the stream name again and select "Volume". There you can adjust the level of the volume. After you have adjusted it to your liking, go back to "File" > "Save as AVI" with a new file name. However, this method may not do anything about the "Muffled" sound problem that you refer to in your initial post.

Nah dude...I know thats not hte problem...It worked fine before I had to reinstall my audio drivers.

You left out that important detail in your initial post. Your statement above would suggest there is nothing wrong with the file, but it would seem that the problem is a software configuration issue.

Nah, just boost the "voice channel" in the AC3 filter config... ;)
