When I start a small (11MB) avi file it does not play, whatever player. In VirtualDub I get the error in the title.

I believe it's actually "XDV3".

Do a simple Googlesearch for "XDV3" and "codec" (Enter on one line and INCLUDE quotation marks)

well, i found that the codec is related to Avid. A bud knows Avid so I'll pass by him for seeing the stream. I looked for a basic codec install but nothing at first.
