I have downloaded many Xvids and they have looked great in my new Philips DVP642 DVD Player.. MUCH BETTER than Divx i should say. I downloaded Elf and i could not even tell it was a Xvid.

Once in a blue moon i will come across an Xvid that will cause discolorization on the screen and is not watchable. This is caused by my Xvid not set right on my computer.

Can anyone tell me how to set up my Xvid Encoder so that when i create an Xvid movie.. it will play in the Philips DVD DVP642 Player? Thanks so much !!

update:

i found that hitting the system menu button sometimes fixes this problem...however, i have a dvd with multiple avi's on it, and 2 of them will play, and 2 of them will actually crash the player...ya, it freezes this stand alone dvd player. have to power it off and back on again.
anyone else have any problems like this?

thanks

hey dude download the mpeg4modifier tool,,if your avi doesnt have square pixel you can change it in a couple mins with it,,i also unpack the bitstreams with it,,you can also see if the avi file has qpel or gmc,if so you have to reencode without those,,,thats why im here to learn a fast easy way to rencode with out gmc or qpel
