what is the fastest conversion or encoding program available? Also can u make movies fit to full screen when burning them? I always check the full screen when burning one but it is always in letterbox format when I view it back on stand alone DVD player. Thanks

I don't know how fast this software is, but with gordian knot i can reach about 32fps. But be advised that gordian knot is complicated the first time, after about 8 shots it will get easier.

gordian is a "package" of encoding tools... it uses virtualdubmod for the video, nandub for audio, vobsub for subtitles, etc...

please be more specific with what you are trying to encode from, and what you are trying to encode to. however, if you really want speed, go for the nero digital codec... it is supposedly the fastest mpeg-4 codec in the world ;)

I am encoding several movies that are in avi fomat to dvd format.
Is Nero digital codec aprogram alone or included with one of the nero programs? thanks

ok then don't worry about nero digital... it will not work on a dvd player...

ignore gordian knot as well  you should have told us your goals...

anyway, it will be hard to find a fast encoder from avi to dvd, unless you want crappy quality video. i recommend "tmpgenc", but the fastest is probably nero

sorry I thought I made it plain in the first question I ask,but maybe not . Well the last issue can I make the movie fit the whole screen or is it always going to be letterbox when I watch it on tv? thanks.

Yeah you did make it clear. The only programs i know of to make files that are playable on DVD players are TMPGEnc and if like me you are not sure of how to author them in TMPGEnc then go for vcd easy which is supposed to do this. Yeah i know this is a complicated world we live in:)

This is for a certified DivX DVD player. They just said DVD player, they might really only have a standard dvd player. Unless of course they do and forgot to mention DivX.
