I'm trying to encode the audio of a movie with virtualdub, but it's audio is unknown tag 0050. It was ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 2 by Gspot. How do I go about encoding this?

"it's audio is unknown tag 0050."

That indicates the audio stream is VBR mp3. Are you trying to "De-multiplex" (separate) the audio from the video?

"ormonde" is mistaken - MP3 audio is tag 0055.

If the ORIGINAL file is an .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise), try using GoldWave to convert the audiostream, by "dragging and dropping" the DivX-compressed .AVI onto the primary GoldWave window...

tag 0x0050 is: Microsoft MPEG-1 audio WAV

Goldwave seemed to have worked, thanks.
