after quite a bit of searching on this site i have come to the conclusion that DMA settings in my win98 are the source of my slow encoding woes. The problem is, i have no 'advanced' tab to enable the DMA unlike my copy of XP on my laptop. I have read that i should go into the BIOS and check if theres an option there, so here comes the newbie part... how do i get into the bios? its an e-machines computer (i know i know) and i cant seem to figure that part out. thanks in advance for any help...

The Bios setup is activated when you start the computer. It is usually a F number such as F2 or F10. Sometimes it is the delete key and called setup. It will say what key it is when the computer starts. It is only shown for a couple of seconds though.
The DMA is usually actiavted in windows rather than the Bios.

I really am a great fan of the muppet show and to act as the voice for the Swedish chef is an honor:biglaugh:
I lived in Malå and then moved to Umeå where I went to SFI.

On the e_machine, if you push the delete key when you see the emachine logo, it will go in to bios mode!:smashead:
