Hi folks,
I am a novice in this area, and have been attempting to make my own video Cd's from downloaded AVI's
On one paricular AVI, I get a purple 'cast' that comes and goes on the encoded mpg file.
The file plays fine in media player etc as an AVI, purple only appears AFTER the encode.

I have used TMPG encoder, LSX encoder, and Honestech Encoder.
all with same results.
Probably I am doing something stupid, but have used all these Encoders OK on other files.

Surpisingly it encodes Ok with AVItoVCd, but took 14 hours to do just a third of the file, when the others only take 1.25 hours.

The file 'properties' are 480x272 pixels/Divx Mpeg-4 (low motion)
and 23.97604 frames. Audio is PCM at 44.1
ANY help really appreciated.
Kevin.

You could "soften block noise" and try interlacing/de-interlacing. Vcdhelp.com has info for TMPGEnc.

What you are describing sometimes results from attempting to increase the resolution (horizontal and/or vertical)...
