i've got this .avi file that won't open in virtual dub but opens in wmp. i get some error "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42' (Microsoft high-speed MPEG-4 V2) Virtualdub requires a video for windows (vfw)compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player are not suitable?

ummmmmmm what codec is this?
what should i download?

It's part of the earlier legitimate Microsoft video compression codec (that the v.3.11 DivX codec was a hack of). I'm sure it's available as part of one of the many codec "packs" at the DivXDigest site.
