    Finishing off my SVCD still a few queries

    Hey guys,

    i've managed to make my capture and convert my avi into MPEG2 using the TMPGEnc tutorial and i've got 2 x 1hr MPEG2 files ready to be put onto cd.

    Now i'm using Nero 6 to burn the disc using the SVCD option in normal mode not wizard. I drag the MPEG 2 file from the browser to the compliation window.

    i've managed to make the cd and it works but doesn't autoplay (my next q)

    But when i drag the mpeg across it looks like Nero is converting the movie again.
    That window shows up showing progress of conversion.
    Is Nero reconverting an already made MPEG2 file???

    2nd question is how do i make this disc autoplay?

    i saw this code in a thread
    [autorun]
    Open=autorun.exe mplayer2.exe /fullscreen /play /close \mpegav\avseq01.dat

    put that in notepad and save as autorun.inf.

    but they mentioned that they didnt' know if it works for Windows XP.

    is that the correct code and will it work?

    thanks in advance.

    Yes, if the disk is a data disk, and not a true SVCD.

      hey thanks for the reply,

      least i can get out one of the questions.

      can i get a bit more clarification on the Nero one.

      Now what's the point of it recompressing the file again??? i'll be losing quality.

      2ndly how do I stop it from doing it

      and 3rd

      how do i get the MPEG2 plugin it says it needs from the site (which its not there) when its in raw avi mode in order to just compress MPEG2 it without using TMPEGenc?

      THanks for the help.

        Ask Nero. Personally, I only use Nero for burning.

        You don't. You need to use different applications.

        First, if you really did encode a proper SVCD in tmpgenc, then Nero won't re-encode, UNLESS, you use Nerovision Express to make a menu or something.
        Open Nero, select SVCD from the New Compilation templates.
        Drag your mpeg from right to left, into the largest window, not up top where the file structure list is.
        Click the burn icon.
        Nero should "analyze" the file (sometimes this takes forever it seems) and then burn it.
        It should autoplay in your player, provided your player can autoplay SVCD's.
        Try the disk in other players. If it autoplays, then you know it's your player, and not your method of creation.
        [autorun]
        Open=autorun.exe mplayer2.exe /fullscreen /play /close \mpegav\avseq01.dat

        put that in notepad and save as autorun.inf.
        Just to clarify, this will make the disk autoplay when inserted into a COMPUTER, not a standalone player. The code forces windows media player to open and play the movie. Obviously a standalone player does not contain windows media player.
