Can you carry on helping me please.
Have been away for a few days.
I have downloaded advanced divx bitrate calc. Is this ok.
I have done the following to my file...
I have a silent avi and an uncompressed wav. What next
Thanks again..

Although I am not Techno, perhaps I can be of assistance (especially since your reference to a "silent .AVI and an uncompressed .WAV file" sounds like something I probably recommended). What are you trying to accomplish?

Hi Setarip
If you refer to "help I'm pulling my hair out" (Macey). You and techno were helping me convert avi to vcd. I was having problems with the lip Sync.
Its just down the page a little from this posting.
Thanks
Macey

I would guess you want to create a DivX-compressed AVi file. However, if the silent AVI you have is already DivX-compressed, the calculator will do you no good, unless you wish to recompress it to a smaller file. The .wav file can be compressed into the space-saving MP3 format as well.
Here we go. I will assume that you do not wish to recompress the AVI file.
1. Open the video file in Virtualdub
2. Set Video to Direct Stream Copy
3. Under Audio tab, load up your wav. file
4. Set Audio to Full Processing Mode
5. You can leave Volume alone if you think the wav. audio is loud enough. Otherwise, you can tinker with it, of course. :)
6. Compression -> MP3 and choose the bitrate you desire
7. Interleaving -> This will be up to you, but I usually set it interleaved every 10 seconds (=10,000ms)
8. Save as Avi and give it a new name
That should get you started somewhere. :)

Hi Enchanter
Thanks for your response
If you go back to where the threads are and find my other postings under "Help, I am pulling my hair out" (its about 10 below this thread.) you will see what I am trying to do.
Its all to do with the lip sync being out. I want to convert an AVI file to vcd. It has VBR instead of CBR and is causing me no end of problems.
All details are in my other posts.
I would be greatful for all the help I can get.
I have converted many other films with no probs except these with Varible bit rates and lip sync probs.
Thankyou again

I don't really make VCDs very often. I can suggest that you try to convert the MP3 track to a CBR type. Virtualdub should do the job as well.

will it correct the lip sync probs?? If so, explain what I have to do .
Thankks

The .wav file you mentioned...is it truly a .wav file already (BIG and space-gobbling)? If so, you can then load it up into any MP3 encoder and create a CBR MP3 file.
Next comes interleaving the video with the audio. You can follow my method I wrote earlier. However, I suggest you use Nandub instead. It's basically an enhanced version of Virtualdub and it accepts MP3 files, without you having to do anything fancy.

would it be possible to send me detailed instructions.
I Have virtual and Nandub along with tmpgenc etc.
If I have instructions in front of me, it should make it easier. I have been trying for over a week to convert these films. I have about 10 now with lip sync probs. would be a waste to have to delete them all.
you can email me at this address. My work mate will print them out for me then.

Thankyou for your kindness in helping me out. It is apprecated.

Its past midnight here and I must get off home. I will be back in the morning.

The instructions are pretty much given in the thread. :) Just copy and paste the relevant bits into a word editor and print them out. :) If you need any further help, I'll always be around.

Sorry, I was away. I am here now.
Just follow to what Enchanter and Setarip are saying for the lipsynch thing then:
(Now, are u trying to convert to VCD?)
If so, open TMPGENC and load the avi file and the wav file.
Then use the VCD template.
Hit start
Then burn using Nero or adaptec.
Waaalaaa!

Have you tried what I outlined in another post of yours already? The one where you asked for a detailed set-by-step instruction...:)

Sure Macey, no probs.
But, I hope enchanter can also help me on the same guidelines, right enchanter?
I have a bit of a sore head since last week so excuse me if I reply late or if I feel sick!
