Hi everybody

Iīve just captured a video from vhs with AVI_IO, Picvideo mjpeg codec and audio PCM.
After load the file in Vdub and make all settings to encode to divX I clicked in " save segmented avi..." to start the conversion, but it displayed "error initializing audio stream compression: the requested conversion is not possible"
Could anyone please explain me what I am missing?

Thanx for the help

Make sure your audio is set to Direct Stream Copy (Assuming you're not compressing the audio to any other format).

1) What audio format and sampling rate were you trying to convert/compress to?

2) Why are you trying to "Save segmented AVI" rather than "Save as AVI"?

"What audio format and sampling rate were you trying to convert/compress to? "
Iīm trying to compress to MP3, 128kbps, 44,100 Hz, stereo

2) Why are you trying to "Save segmented AVI" rather than "Save as AVI"?
Anyway, it does't work too !

Hey !

I found out that it works if i set the audio only to 44,100 Hz and Mono (like the source).
Is there a way to change this settings for the final file?

It would probably work as well, if you selected MP3 44,100 Mono...

44100Hz Stereo 128kbps should work. If not, re-install the MP3 codec if u not have already done so.

Otherwise, extract the audio to a wav and then try to compress it to MP3 44100Hz stereo 128kbps.

I guess the best way to solve this problem is to capture in stereo. Capturing in mono and after convert to stereo, in my opinion, doesnīt offer any improvement.

It won't! Capture at the highest quality first!

Make sure u use these settings when capturing vid:

NO RECOMPRESSION
YU12
30fps
CD quality audio
320*240

Then u can do anything with it, eg resize for better quality. yes, it does work!

why should I capture in 320*240?
Isnīt it better to capture in 640*480?

Well,

if u capture at that res, the files will be EVEN bigger, fast!

Fat 32 support 4GB per file
NTFS upto 3TeraBytes

I usually capture at 320*240
then encode a few times into MPEG2 (NO IT DOES NOT LOSE QUALITY, depending on which MPEG2 filters u are using) then I encode to DIVX fast motion 6000 bitrate.

Works like a charm!

Here is a BROADCAST QUALITY video I made, it is 72.2MB MPEG2, use vidomi/flask to compress to fast motion, tell me what u think

The server maybe down, keep trying!
