How do I upgrade to the Recode?

I have several Nero CDs that came with things I purchased...DVD Burner, CD Burner, my laptop...etc.

I was interested in upgrading to the Recode since I am hearing positive things about its ability to backup DVDs. How do I upgrade? Or...since I have not actually purchased Nero directly, will I have to do that?

Nero Items I have:
Media Player, Nero OEM, Nerovision Express, Users Guides, and Startsmart. Do any of these have a "check for updates" feature? If so, I may be going blind....

Nero has an update site (http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php) where you can download new versions. I'm not sure whether it will allow you to have addons to OEM versions (which is generally what is bunded with a drive when you buy it) or not. You'll just have to download (package 2 in this instance) and try.

blutach, thank you. I was thinking I was supposed to have the Key written down, but it was automatically loaded when the install began. Fun fun, a new program to learn.....

Found them, the Doom9 guide seemed the easiest to read....at least for me. A nice step-by-step process flow which I appreciate.

i also have a register nero pack and would love to get nero recode. what should i look for on the nero website?

hi mig$y, i did what u said and then some and i just can'T find nero recode. i downloaded 6.6 updates( six parts of it) can't find it. i did go into some part called back up and it told me that i can't use this part of the program with the license i've got. but i don't even know if that was recode2. botton line is 1)after dawnloading what it seems to be the all the nero programs in the whole world, i didn't see recode2 anywhere and 2) i don't know if the license i got will allow me to have it although the same license seems to be ok for all of the other nero programs. help, help ,help. please help.

ps: i use the lisence for each of the program( the whole 6.6 update) and it was ok.

Two things:

1. Nero is most definitely NOT a great program!

2. Recode is part of the package 2 download - called Nero Vision Express (click on the link migsy gave you or I gave in my first post in this thread). When installed, use your Start Smart or just Start-All Programs-Nero-NeroVisionExpress3-Nero Recode.

Possible that your license, as you mentioned, may not cover the Recode. My Recode found at Start>Programs>Nero>Recode...or something very close to that. If i was at home I would give you the file name of Recode so you could search on your PC for it, but alas, I am at work. If no one elses offers the "exe" name I will send it later.

Does not get easier then this: Recode.exe. If you cannot find it on your PC I would say there are two reasons...

1. Downloaded the wrong file
2. You did not qualify for a licensed copy, therefore you do not have it.

Could be other reasons, but those make the most sense to me.
