Problems with DivX v3

I am having problems opening video files with the encoded with the following (AVIcodec):

V. codec name: DivX v3 ;-) MPEG-4 (Low-Motion)
A.1 codec name: MPEG Layer-3

I have downloaded and installed the most recent ffdshow file pack (with divx v3 selected), yet all I get are some that only play the first 4 seconds (even though all 187 MB are there) or some that say "Cannot render file."

Any help is much appreciated.

1) Load the original video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box
