help...xvid to dvd - Some error messages from TMPGenc

In TMPGenc Plus, I am trying to encode an XVID movie to MPEG format so that I can toss it through DVD Author and then onto a DVD for NTSC viewing. I am getting the following error when I use TMPGenc Plus 2.5: "WARNING: NOTHING TO OUTPUT BFRAME DECODER LAG"

And when I simply try to use TMPGenc 3.0 Express: "invalid sample format. (error code 0x0048002).

And when I try to join two of these specific xvid files (file 1 and file 2) with VirtualDub, I get the same warning as I do from TMPGenc Plus.

Any idea what this may imply? The XVID file info from vdub is as follows:

I am assuming that I have all of the correct codecs installed, as viewing them on my computer is no hassle at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

firstly, have you tried raising the environmental settings of "directshow mulimedia file reader" to highest (likely 2)?

yup I tried that

However, today I found a solution....I have to re-dub the audio (as uncompressed .wav) and video in virtualdub and save each individual file as a new .avi. And then join the two files. And then convert to MP2 and M2V files with TMPGenc. Then Author with IFOedit. THEN FINALLY burn to dvd with nero. A lot of steps, but at least I'm finally getting working DVDs.

I still get the BFRAME error message at the beginning of the movie and this shows up in the first couple frames of the movie (when the screen is black), but seems to disappear afterwards.

I am currently authoring the video that was giving me the most problems...if the above does not work as it has with the other videos, I will post for more help.

I got a similar error with xvids but only if i use a stupid prg to encode the vid. This stuff seams to be som kind of error produced by the encoding prg while muxing or so. Well my Tmpegenc will say error but keeps on encoding....???

Instead of going through all of that effort, have you tried simply using VirtualDub to cut off the first one or two keyframes of each XviD-compressed .AVI?

if the avi itself has corrupt frames, you don't ebven need virtual dub. you can use tmpgenc's "source range" option.
