to convert to mpeg 1/2 IMO mainconcept. On my pc mainconcept is app. 3-4 x faster than Tmpgenc. It is faster then cce 2.5 on my pc also. and the quality is real good.
I use WinAVI Converter it can convert fast and top quality and heepz of different formats AVI, MPEG1/2/4, VCD/SVCD/DVD, DivX, XVid, ASF, WMV, RM, QuickTime MOV, Flash SWF
heres a link how I use it

tmpgenc and mainconcept, hand down :)
tmpgenc is better in quality than speed, and mainconcept is better at speed than quality. the difference in quality at reasonable bitrates is negligible in my opinion, so i would definately go with mainconcept...

I agree, For fast, mainconcept is good
For best quality, TMPGEnc, HCEnc and AutoQMatenc.
For a balance of two(Speed and Quality), use Mainconcept.

Ho hum.
Speed, schmeed.
Quality - Procoder 2.
Good to see an old thread revived by a spammer. See how far we've come in a year.

Speed, schmeed.
that's what i said, at least until i had to work with interlaced content. now i encode mostly DV and hdtv, even with an x2 speed is definitely an issue for me :toast:
curious what fps you get with procoder?

On my machine, pretty slow. I encode about 20-25,000 frames an hour (about 15 minutes of video).
