I use dvd decrypter to put the movie on the computer. then dvd shrink to burn through nero. but i get the following problem.

A WINDOW COMES UP SAYING
THIS DISC IS NOT A WRITABLE.
PLEASE INSERT A WRITABLE DISC...
MEDIA REQUESTED: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL
MEDIA DETECTED IN DRIVE: DVD-R
WHEN I CANCEL IT SAYS
DVD-VIDEO FILES REALLOCATION STARTED
DVD-VIDEO FILES REALLOCATION COMPLETED (NO FILE MODIFIED)
DVD-VIDEO FILES SORTED
THEN WHEN I TRY TO PLAY THE "BURNED" DVD WITH POWER DVD 5 IT SAYS: DVD-VIDEO PLAYBACK GRAPH BUILDING FAILED.

PLEASE HELP THANKS

You may need a firmware update (see my sig).

Also see the golden rules of burning in my sig.

DVD Decrypter can also burn. From DVD Shrink: Choose Backup --> Select backup target --> ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter

The best guide I've seen is DVD Shrink for Dummies - see my sig.

I am not a supporter of Nero for many reasons. Your problem could be many things - all of which are outlined in the golden rules of burning. The main issues tend to be:

- lousy media
- firmware out of date so not recognising the media
- Nero not up to date (early versions were very buggy - latest is 6.6.0.14)
- burning too fast (4x is what we recommend)

DVD Decrypter can also burn. From DVD Shrink: Choose Backup --> Select backup target --> ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter

IVE DONE THAT AND NOW I HAVE AN ISO IMAGE, BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW? I TRY AND GO TO DVD DECRYPTER: MODE: ISO -> WRITE AND I BRING UP THE ISO FILE BUT WITH A WRITING SPEED OF 4X AND THE PROGRAM WONT LET ME CLICK ON THE DECRYP BUTTON.

PS DVD DECRYPTER SAYS THE DISC IS NOT EMPTY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PROGRAM. AND ITS A BLANK DISC

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Please tell us the media you are using. See "What's my media ID & firmware" in my sig.

Post everything you see from the DVD Decrypter window.

Errrch.

1. Update your firmware like I said in the other thread. BYX4 is the latest.
2. Throw those disks out - they are rubbish. DVD Decrypter can't even see that this disk has a data area!
3. Go buy some good disks - CMC are the worst going round.

Good luck

Oh yeah. You are burning on a USB port. Make sure it is a USB 2.0 or you will make coasters!! OK? Otherwise, switch to an internal burner.

Your problem MAY be SOLELY related to your USB setup (and nothing to do with your brand of burnable media). Per the FAQ at this sub-forum:

"In most cases, users have found that updating the drivers for the USB Controller resolves the issue. Other found a new External Chassis for the Recorder resolved the issue. And we provided a work around in our MMC.DLL file that causes our software to reissue the command till the recorder is free and accpets, instead of timing out so soon after a lack of response from the device. This resolved the issue for some, but not for others. This MMC.DLL file is part of Nero 6.6.0.3 and above builds.

Try to disconnected all USB devices except for the external DVD burner.

As a last resort, after trying the above solutions and others, they finally connect as an internal to the system and all issues are resolved."

And they are +Rs You might like to look at Media Quality in my sig and find some good disks. Maxell, Verbatims etc.

Good luck again.
