How did you encode with DivX5? One pass or two passes, more importantly?

OK sorry to ask, but just to make sure, you must have obviuosly re-installed the DIVX 5 codec, right???

Did you do Both the '2-pass first pass' and '2-pass second pass' ?.

If you only did the first pass you will get a tiny but unuseable avi file.

Yes. i have encoded the movie with the divx5, '2-pass first pass' and '2-pass second pass' and now i have a full functioning video that plays back perfect! But i have encoded it with uncompressed sound... so now its too large... the reason why i didn't encode the sound with my mp3 Lame codec was that i have a problem encoding with mpeg-3 sound in flaskMPEG... so if you can help me with that problem i will not need to open the file in virtualdub

so my new question is why cant i encode a divx movie with mp3 sound`? i posted a screen dump below...
:-?

Problems with Flask and mp3 codecs is a common problem.

To recompress an uncompressed audio stream, you need to load in into virtualdub and select 'Video'->'Direct stream copy' and 'Audio->'full processing mode' and set a compression format in 'Audio'->'Compression'

Or you could try resolving your problems with flask and lame by removing any mp3 codec's except lame from your system.

Go into 'Control Panel'->'Multimedia'->'Devices'->'Video Compression Codecs' select a Codec and click properties->remove

But don't remove something you don't know how to reinstall

1) GoldWave ( and probably CoolEdit and other similar) should be able to extract the WAV audiostream from your .AVi file - and then convert it and save as a separate MP3 audio file.

2) Then run NanDub and set "Audio" to "No audio". It should now accept your video file without incorporating the UNcompressed WAV audiostream.

3) From under the "Audio" dropdown menu, select ".MP3 audio" and load your .MP3 audiostream.

4) From under the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as" and save your file with a new filename.

Let us know of your success ;>}
