View Full Version : Problem capturing video from Sony DV cam

I have been trying to capture video from a Sony DCR-PC120E cam to my laptop via the firewire card unsuccessfully.
Have loaded the the ACE megapack, that supposedly includeds the sony codecs, without errors but when I look at loaded codecs with Gspot, it tells me that the sony codec file is not available.
I have found the files in an ACE directory (sonydv.dll, sonydvxx.dll, sdvvd.ax) and have tried to register them using regsvr32 but I get an error that the "dll was loaded but DllRegisterServer entry point could not be found, the file could not be loaded".
Have tried to use Ulead8, MGI video wave, winDV, virtualdub, but I do not find the (sony) device, or the app crashes.
What should I do prior to ditching everything ??
I am new to this so pse bear with me !

I did a google search and Windv was a software that came up. I have read about this software but never used it. I have used Virtual VCR with success and like it. I don't know if these 2 softwares are listed on this site but you can get them here in the tools section www.video help.com their are some good capture guides there to look at

i seem to have a problem also, i dont have the software which came with the cam any more and now ive come to converting several dv tapes into dvd but i dont have any idea how.

Is there some software i install to make the sony cam appear when i connect the firewire so i can select it in a dv capture program?
