I'm trying to record videos I've recorded on my camcorder to a vcd with roxio, get the message that i need a MPEG encoder that supports Video CD encoding. Looked but not sure what to use.
Any help much appreciated! Thankyou

Sounds like you have raw dv format video. You need to convert it using one of various programs. One I use (and love) is Studio 7. Premier is also great. You can output your video in mpeg format.

Also when you say you are using roxio, I take it to mean Easy CD Creator? Which version?

You're right, I have raw mini-dv footage. Yes, I am using roxio 5 platinum, do you think nero is better, because I'm not very happy with roxio. Is studio seven a conversion tool or movie making program? Can I download one of these or do I need to buy the program? Thankyou

For home movies, I like to use transitions and special effects offered in Premier and Studio 7. Yes they are commercial programs and you would have to buy them. After you apply the effects and transitions, you can save as a avi file and then use TMPGEnc for a higher quality movie. I find that the output (SVCD and mpeg) from these programs just don't compare to TMPG
