I have a home security camera, Panasonic KX-HCM-230, that records video over IP to a software package called Luxriot.
I want to do is quickly search this video for motion without using the software, Luxriot provides.
There has to be a utility out there that searches MPEG/AVI for a given template of: images or sectors, right?

Some ideas:
1. The camera software/configuration should allow you record only motion. When the camera doesn't detect motion it stops recording until the next time it detects motion.
There are some free software on the web that should allow you to do so if the software provided with the camera doesn't support this feature.
2. I think Windows XP Movie Maker can create clips based on changes in the video. The option is called "create clips". I used it on a family video and it worked fine. Not sure what it will do with a security-mostly-still-video though..
