DivX 3.11 will not work with WMP 7.1 Help!!

I have a pentium 3 computer, with Windows Mellenium. I have Windows media player version 7.1. I have downloaded and installed the DivX 3.11 Alpha Codec. However, I can not playback avi. movies. (DivX.com site states that DivX 3.11 Alpha codec may not work with Windows media player 7.1)

However, I can not download Windows media player version 6.4 as the Divx.com site suggests because version 6.4 will not work with Windows Millenium.

I would really like to use Windows Media Player, Does anyone have any suggestions????

Find WMP6.4 here:
x:\Program Files\Windows Media Player, where x is the Windows Drive letter. WMP6.4 is the file named mplayer2.exe. It comes with all flavours of Windows, even WinXP.
