yes, its free. there are many different builds with different features floating around the net, and i think you should know that windows programs don't work with any of them. a small selection do, but only through emulation wich is horribly slow. it seems to me you know nothing about linux though, i advise you get a lot of reading done before you do anything...

as the LT asked, why?because it isn't full of bugs and rubbish like windows.but it looks like i'll be staying with window$ simply because of program compatibility.

There are a bunch of versions that will run off a CD or DVD and require no installation at all and will not interfere with your Windows installation. You can play with it all you want to learn Linux on your PC.

Ah the power of having a live CD

I bet you can find that within the link I posted earlier.

Posted @ Ubuntu site
Live CDThe live CD allows you to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all. There are three images available, each for a different type of computer:

ubuntu-5.10-live-i386 (http://se.releases.ubuntu.com/5.10/ubuntu-5.10-live-i386.iso)

Now... You/anyone can just burn that image to cd ad run or use Nero Imagedrive (http://www.nero.com/nero6/en/Nero_ImageDrive_prev.html) to create a virtual drive and mount the Ubuntu.ISO runnning it without instalation...

I prefer the installed version since you can configure you pc's components easier and have it working much better...

Yeah I'm on ubuntu at the moment, used their free shipit service to get a free CD. Came after about 3 weeks though ;P But I'm thinking of going back to windows already, since I'm finding the limitations on what I can do and run quite frustrating.
