can anyone recomend a free dvd program to play dvd's from a dvd drive?

Do a google search for Media Player Classic, it's good and its free.

The direct link to the program is here (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358) as well as in the DD link that has instructions for using it. Version 6.4.8.5 is the latest version and has just been released recently and has had a major revision.

and to use it to play from your dvd drive, click 'file', then 'open dvd' :)
