Hello
I have been using dvd shrink, dvd decryptor and dvd fab forever without any problems until now.
The scenario ( i have a read only dvd drive and a burner drive )
1. dvd shrink closed after it successfully finished backing up a dvd.
2. i decided to backup a different dvd, when i put it in the read only drive and close down the windows dialogue that asks what i want to do ( run with media player etc...) the laptop crashes and I get the blue screen of death.

Now any dvd movie I put in the drive crashes the system, even ones that had previously worked. Could one the movies installed something on my system that does not allow any movies to be played on the read only drive?

Did you install any drivers recently? You may have to either roll-back your driver or even update some drivers. I had a similar problem and the culprit was an AUDIO driver. I believe on the blue screen there is some error code. Try googling that error code.

I haven't added new devices in a long time. I did get it to stop happening by putting a software cd in the drive and letting the install program start up. This allowed me to backup one more movie. The next movie caused the bsod so I tried running the software cd again but now the drive can't read the disc at all, it just keeps spinning and stopping. I'm thinking that maybe since the laptop is 3 yrs old the drive needs replaced.

Did you try updating the drivers for your drive?
