View Full Version : One DVD drive or two?

I have been using an LG DVD Burner for about a year now, with great fun and success. I have been thinking about getting another Burner or at least a DVD Rom drive to go with it.

Sometimes I think it would be easier to work with two drives capable of reading DVD's or DVD media, then just one.

I am curious if most people have two DVD drives or just one, and if it would be more beneficial to me.

Right now I only have a CD Rom drive to go with the DVDRam drive.

Thanks for any advice or input on this matter.

The LG drive is a good one and unless you have serial hard drives
and can seperate the 2 optical drives on seperate ide controller/cables
there's little reason to have 2 drives. If you can set them up as
standalone masters, get another dvd burner, something like the nec 3540/50.
The LG is riplocked(rips slowwwwwwwwwww), which has it's uses.

Thanks for the input Chewy!

I can set them up as stand alone masters, so I likely will go with another burner. I thought about just getting a DVD ROM drive but might as well go for the burner if I'm going to bother at all.

I will check out the burner you mentioned, thanks!

ur welcome
post back if you get the nec, the 3540 needs a firmware mod to make it into
a speed demon, the 3550 is supposed to be unlocked and if I ever get one of those roundtuit's I'll verify.

Yes I will let you know if I get the NEC. Sounds like a great burner with the firmware mod.
I would love to get myself an early Christmas present, lol. May have to wait until after though.
