This error is the worst error you can get with any AVI file.
Its driving me to drink. If you click ok with this error.
The audio will be all messed up and look like Kung fu Theater...
You will be unable to chop it, or encode it with different peramiters for audio.
This file plays just fine with the dvix player and WM player and even
plays fine with vdub. But if you try and chop the video, the audio will be
hammered! Isnt there some way to tell VDUB that there is nothing wrong
with the video and just except the video the way it is. The specs are

Video: Xvid: 512 X 384, 29 FPS 140 kbps
Audio: MPEG layer-3 111 kbps

Help me!

no problem at all. what i do is click the ok button, "direct stream copy" under video, under audio select "full processing mode", then conversion 41,000 or 48,000Hz depending if going on dvd and "high quality". click audio again for a 3rd time select compression, leave on PCM (no compression). go to file "save wav".

when this is all done load the original video, then load your wav file under audio>wav audio. now go on with your work. this always works with perfect sync and playback.;)

WOW!!
You are the fastest forum responder on the planet. Thats worked like a charm.
took me a total of 8 minutes to do all that and cut and edit the viedo.
Beats the hell out of encoding it to mpeg2 ah LOL. I owe you yet another one.
Thanks a million man.

VDub won't touch the video, as per the error it is the audio that it is interested in.

Rather than decompressing you could use VirtualDubMod which will allow you to keep the VBR header and therefor cut the file, keep the original audio and maintain sync.
