i wouldnt recommend divx5 to do the job, since it is very demanding!
try a player like bsplayer with those codecs installed, you will need for your files!!
i wouldnt install 4 or 5 if only divx3 files were to be played!!!

Friends:
I would like to clarify wich is the software component needed to change: the codec, the player, o boths.
Thank you very much.

I would say it's the players you need to change. Windows Media Player 6.4 and The Playa are two good choices. Remember to set the filter settings of the codec down to zero so that your CPU can cope well with the playback task.

Try http://www.sasami2k.com/ . It's not updated for some time, but the actual version works good on my old 300MHz and has also a lot of interesting options.
