The best way to convert avi to dvd is step by step as stated by "columbo". For all-in-one converters IMO what are the better programs would be VSO divxtodvd and Dvd2svcd. In my tests I use cce sp 2.5 for the encoder

Two options, I use both, (I own Nero but you can get a trial) - that is use Nero (www.nero.com) or Ulead Video Studio (www.ulead.com) to burn. Both work great for me! A plus side to Ulead is that you can edit your video file, if necessary, before burning.

HC Enc is an mpeg-2 encoder made by HANK315

hc can be used as gui version or the hcbatch.exe can be used via dvdrebuilder (c.f. our subforum) or other guis like avi2dvd

Aloha UncasMS,

The Avi2DVD 0.4.2 I downloaded and used for the Aiv2DVD guide came with HC 0.15a. Using your tip, I updated to HCbatch 0.16 by using your "Rename" tip and created unbelievable quality. The newer version Avi2DVD version 0.4.3 beta does come with HC encoder 0.16 preinstalled

that's good news!

hc actually is a real gemstone when it comes to creating dvd compliant streams

The newer version Avi2DVD version 0.4.3 beta does come with HC encoder 0.16 preinstalled

maybe it is still the FIRST 016 final version whereas now you could find the latest hcbatch.exe included in the GUI pack hank315 released recently

the hcbatch.exe has been worked on a little more and should be the one to be used

(latest rebuilder version released yesterday includes this version, too)
