Strobe with XVID on DV-585

I have a problem with some xvid files I've downloaded recently. There is a severe horizontal strobe movement. I could see it clearly on my new Pioneer DV-585. I could also see it on my WinDVD 7 software player. The funny thing is when playing it with Windows Media Player 10, it runs smoothly. I'm using K-lite codec pack 2.24. I don't mind that I can't run it with WinDVD. My biggest concern is with the brand new hardware DVD player. I bought it only to play XviD files and the result is frustrating. I've upload a short demo file of the problem. I'd appreciate if you would help me by burning the file on a CD and test it with your hardware DVD Player:

You might want to try unpacking it with MPEG-4 modifier. Really your player shouldn't have issues with packed bitstream though. Perhaps there is a newer firmware? Also I really wouldn't recommend installing codec packs.

The codec pack is only for reference (by the way, what should I use instead?). The real problem is with the hardware player which is obviously not effected by the codec installed on my pc.
I've tried to find info about pack and unpack mpeg4 bitstream and couldn't find real explanation about this feature. Can you elaborate?

MPEG-4 wasn't designed to be stored in avi or rather the other way around. avi/VfW wasn't designed to handle advanced video formats like MPEG-4. So DXN came up with packed bitstream... Nah, I really couldn't be bothered, it has been explained before much better than I could.

Put simply though DivX only ever used packed bitstream with 1 consecutive b-vop. Your file has packed bitstream and two consecutive bframes. This (pb and >1 bframe) used to cause problems on MTK based players and Pioneer players are at least here MTK based. As far as I know though all the major MTK based players have had firmware updates to fix this problem, but I still think it is worth trying.

What would I recommend install of codec packs? Individual codecs.

I didn't understand a thing (beside it's not good when using Pioneer :) )...
The only thing which bothers me if making a file unpack can cause a problem (some one mentioned a glitch in audio/video sync)....

Unpack, burn, test. If it doesn't work, then you still have the original file. Unpacking shouldn't effect sync at all.
