View Full Version : Audio Problem with TMPGenc DVD Author

I captured video from the TV using a Compro T-300 capture card. A mpg file is produced. I then load this file into TMPGenc DVD Author to create a DVD.
However, when I play the DVD back in my DVD player, I can hear sound through the TV speakers, but no sound through my surround system, regardless of which settings I try on the amp.
Audo compression in TMPGenc DVD Author is set at MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, 48000 Hz, Stereo, Monoligual, 256 kbps.
Any thought as why this is and how to correct it?

G'day mate! we need a coolchange here today eh?
This sounds like a connection issue. Your DVD plays its MP2 audio track OK, so it's not the DVD that you have produced.

Can't be a connection issue. Other DVDs play perfectly well from my DVD paly, as do CDs, and mp3 disks. It only happens on DVDs made from video captured from the TV.

Does you player support mp2? (They all should). Perhaps you should try different software - I wonder if AVI2DVD will help. See http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=57804

It would appear that my DVD player does not support MP2. The DVD plays in my PS2 and also my PC (both providing sound through to my stereo system). I guess when the specs with the DVD player says the audio standard it supports is "DTS/Dolby Digital (AC-3), MPEG, PCM", it doesn't mean MP2.
Haven't tried AVI2DVD - I've captured a mpg file, so I don't have a need to used that program (yet).
While typing, Martin went out? Will the Aussies win the cricket? A big total to chase!

Another question. If my DVD player does not support MP2, how come I still hear sound on the TV?

All players should support it mate. See here (http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.6) and your player says MPEG, so you should be OK.
Yes, it's a big total - just came in from a swim and saw our 2nd XI gave them a nice total. Watching now. But who cares? It's a ODI with Sri Lanka fgs.
Talk to you tomorrow @ work.
