make vcd file size smaller

wondering if there is any way I can make my mpg or avi movie files smaller so i can burn the whole movie to 1 cd ...I end up with room for 1/2 of a movie on each cd..Thanks

well, you could of course re-encode your avi with a different bitrate and make it fit.

of course this is possible.

only i'd not suggest to do so, since the quality will suffer from re-encoding!
