Indulge Me Further With Acronis

Guys

I am trying the acronis evaluation 15 day sample......I backed up all my system files but I still do not understand how it works.

My question being, when it hits the fan and ur pc has gone blank and you need to reinstall windows xp, where does acronis image programme remain does it not flush down with other system files???? or is it that the files you back up must be loaded as an image to CD or something....must I send the destination for backup to CD????

Please help me understand.

You use the acronis restore which does not require a PC to be booted into Windows. Make the special bootable restore disk (see the menu).

blutach is of course quite right. I'll add another point though. Yes, you want to store your image on a disk other than the one you are protecting! Most people use an external USB or Firewire drive. I use a second SATA drive that I can hot plug. I also make a monthly "clone" of my system drive. That allows me to get back running literally in a few minutes after a catastrophic failure.

Thanks guys.I am currently on a work PC, once I get to my PC I will have a look into acronis....I will have a look at the menu and see how I can make the bootable restore disk.

If I fail to figure it out, then I will have to ask you guys to answer the how part of the question...being how do I make a bootable disk (if menu fails to help) and how do I clone my system drive.

Open the program and look to the left side menu. There you will see "Create Bootable Rescue Media".
