There is no sound output during the editing process (cutting frames, etc). How do you get sound? Thanks!

For TMPGEnc's no audio problem, please read this:

If you are getting no sound during playback when editing then it usually means it requires the AC3 audio plugin from TMPGEnc.

I can be wrong but as far as I 've known TMPGEnc Sound Plugin AC3 doesn't work with TMPGEnc Plus though

If I remember correctly, as stated at the TMPGEnc Plus web site (http://www.pegasys-inc.com/) the TMPGEnc AC-3 sound plug-in does not work with TMPGEnc Plus but works with the replacement TMPGEnc XPress.

Thats why I go to other locations to get AC-3 audio for authoring, places like Vob Edit, DGIndex. And use TMPGEnc Plus for video only for frame clipping and encoding.

that's right. TMPGEnc DVD Author, TMPGEnc Xpress, TMPGEnc MPEG Editor.

I downloaded this and installed it with right click but TMPGEnc still says I need to buy their AC3 codec to get audio. How do I get this to work with TMPGEnc?

FYI, I'm using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6. Thanks!

Yes, I found AC3ACM.acm under "system32".

TMPGEnc says it can't find the Dolby Digital encoder under "environmental setting" (highlighted in red) and asks me to install their own AC3 plug-in.

mine says that too in environmental settings, but it still works.

I downloaded your AC3 filter but still no sound. I rebooted and nothing happens. Do I need a sound card? I'm currently getting sound out of the built-in desktop PC speaker on the mobo.

you shouldn't need a reboot. that's all i've ever had ,never had a problem. do you have other codec packs or stuff like that on your PC?

what is the exact error TMPGEnc gives you, post the screenshot

does the origianl file/disc play properly on the PC?

The error message is exactly the same as your screenshot.

The source files and DVD will play just fine.

How do I check for other codecs? I installed these:

There you go...

that is exactly how mine looks. when you proceed with the software this entire screen pops up at you?

NOTE: MANUALLY click "BROWSE" and select a definite destination for the output file on that screen.

Basically the software works fine with no pop-up or error message, except there's no audio during edit. My gut feel is that TMPG only wants to work with its own AC3 filter.

LT. Columbo
9 Sep 2006, 04:42 PM
well that can't be true since i have never used it. did you manually select a destination folder?

a529612

How do you manually ask TMPG look for the AC3 file?

LT. Columbo
9 Sep 2006, 04:58 PM
what i meant was select the destination output folder because if wrong it WILL give an error, but you say you get no errors.

to manually select audio input is below the video. you are using source from a DVR which i have never used since i don't have a DVR. this could be the problem here...

Should I output the AC3 filter files where the TMPG folder is?

I mean where should install the AC3 filter? Should I pick the TMPG folder or use the "default" location?

Do you think it's related to the lack of dedicated sound card on my setup? I tried editing a regular ripped 1:1 movie DVD but still no sound. What file info do you need?

what are you using to play back the outputted dvd folder from DVD author? and how are you doing it? you should be using media player classic (free)

I'm using Nero ShowTime to playback the output files. I get audio output from the internal PC speaker. If I need to burn it to a DVD+R, I use ImgBurn. Everything works great on my PC and stand alone DVD recorder / player, except there's no sound during the editing process with TMPG DVD Author 1.6.

you WILL NOT not get that do the lack of the plugin, BUT you certainly will have it in the final product. i've just verified. playback the folder with mpc

it says only Dolby Digital audio nothing about AC3
Dolby Digital (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Digital) is AC3.
