avi to dvd

Hi, I am new to this board. I have downloaded some movies and they are avi files. I can watch them on my computer but i cant watch them on a dvd. I am trying to put it on a dvd. I downloaded winaviconverter but either it isnt working or i am doing something wrong. On my computer i have a dvd +rw burner. Does the winavi converter work with that. Also i have Nero 7 and i tried to do it through Nerovision but it after a few hours, it said i didnt have enough space on the dvd. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks, Mike

you'll need to convert them to dvd files. if you want freeware do a search for avi2dvd here at the forum. there is a guide by benbryant:)

Hi, Thanks for your quick response. Doesnt the winavi converter do that and also i thought that was what the Nerovision does in Nero 7 but it keeps saying i dont have enough space on the dvd to burn it. The total file was 2.65 gig and a dvd is 4.7 gigs. Thats what i dont understand, there should still be more space. Do you recommend an easier program for me to use.
