How to convert a DVD to AVI into very good qualiy.

i tried a lot of programs and I can't find one that is match for me. Sometime the frame rate goes slow and the audio is okay but is not syncro. When I fixed the the frame rate, now the problems goes to audio, it loose 0.5 sec of sound every second to minute. I mean, I want the same program that some people convert their dvd and put on torrent into perfect quality. what are they using?
