You may have a video that is not supported by DivX5. If it happens to be a DivX video, try using either 3.11 or 4.12 (remember to remove 5).

Your phraseology is a bit confusing. If you're saying that the .AVI was CREATED with DivX v.5.02, I believe you'll discover that TMPGEnc (and similar software) cannot (presently) process it. You'll have to convert it to either v.3.11 or 4.12 (assuming you have either installed on your system) using VirtualDub...

well, u don't really need to convert it, u just uninstall the DIVX 5.x.x codec, install v 4.11 or v4.12 codec and convert it.
audio and video will appear :)
Just helping

in TMPGENC, goto options > Environment setttings > vfapi plugin.
increase the avi opendml and the avi vfw filters to a higher priority by right clicking on the them and choosing higher priorty.

Are you sure u have installed ALL the DIVX codecs?
Also try increasing the directshow filter.
You really don't need to go that high, abotu 2-3 max should do it.

Right, accroding to your info, VD said MPEG4 low motion. Install the DIVX 3.11alpha codec,
Also, INSTALL the MICROSOFT MPEG4 codecs (v1,v2,v3) just incase
Don't give up, what u can do if it still doesn't work is to email me a small clip of the video and I will see what I can do for u if everything else failes.

5 or 6????
DIVX v5 is the one, 6 won't be out yet.
In my world, the only DIVX codec exists is the best, DIVX 3.11alpha.
If only the quality was high and the file size is low in a new codec, that would become another of my fav DIVX codecs.
:)
My opinions.
