I hate encoding with DivX 5 because the quality is terrible, but I need it to veiw alot of DivX5 videos properly...how can I have it so that both codecs are on my system at the same time?

YES!
DIVX 5 plays all DIVX 4 and 3.11alpha vids.
However, if u want to convert an encoded DIVX 5 avi to MPEG using TMPGENC, uninstall DIVX 5 and install v4.xx

no, I don't think you understood my question. I need both codecs on the same system at all times. So that DivX 5 plays all content, but the 4.12 codec is still installed so that I can use it to encode.

LOL! ya, sure...you're living in an odd world there...I can encode if not near-DVD, DVD quality on 1 CD with 4.12 for a movie that is up to 105 mins long

You'd better be sure :smashead: ....now can somebody tell me how to install both codecs on the same system??

But I'am a bit confused as to why you are getting worse quality with divx5. If you turn off all the new features of divx5, it should preform next to identically to divx4. Unless you are using some strange resolution.

ok, just because I have not been in this forum before doesn't mean that you know more about it than me...trust me, I know a alot..that's all you really need to know right now. :biglaugh: :evilaugh: :biglaugh:
lol I'am sorry, but anyone who could possible claim, to be anything but a newbie with divx5, would have known how to find the modified version of divx4.
But hey, if you don't want my help with your divx5 problems that is your loss.

Not my problem....I used the NIMO pack and updated the 5.0.1 codec to 5.0.2 to get both codecs running..I haven't even bothered with your link yet (cuz I don't need it anymore) but yes, I would say I probably know more about DivX than most people using these forums...maybe even you....could somebody lock this thread up so I don't get emails everytime somebody replies?
To stop receiving email notification of thread updates, go to you user cp and unsubscripe yourself from this thread. Or if you don't want email notification in general, select edit options in your user cp, and set the "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" to no.
Or just stop posting. :)
I'am sorry but talking to you have just been too much fun.

So has talking to you. Maybe you will be making a forum after me and my project in the future...show DivX Networks what a crazy person with knowlege can do with a codec...I'm working on something that will blow DivX 5 outta the water....that's all I can say now and I won't be checking back here anytime so please don't bother with a reply..good luck with your video adventures!
Let me guess, yet another divx.log file analyser/editor ?
