Muxing Problem Of VBR MP3 Audio

I muxed my Billy Elliot DivX movie (encoded with FlaskMPEG) with it's audio track which I converted to VBR Mp3 (192 kbps) with the software called Morphix (which is using the LAME codec). But at the end the final avi file was not playing properly and was freezing every 2-3 seconds.

I have radium MP3 codec installed on my PC, do I have to install LAME for playback too? And if I have to do that how can I find the setup file of this codec (because I couldn't find it anywhere!)?:(

Which of the divx codecs did you use?
Did the soundless avi file play correctly?
What program did you use to mux the?
Did the mp3 file play correctly before you muxed it?

These things would be good to know before anyone could help you.

Another suggestion is that you use nother program to improve your quality a lot. For example Gordian Knot and Nandub.

-I use divx 3.11 alpha codec.
-The soundless avi plays without problem.
-I used both Virtual Dub & Avi Mux. Both of them gave the same result.
-The MP3 file alone plays perfectly.

I use Nandub, too. But I usually make 2 CD Divx movies and for this one the bitrate was enough high to gain a good video file so I preferred Flask. Sometimes I can't stand the slowness of Nandub's encoding process:)) But sure it gives very very good results with 3.11 codec.

I see that you're so much into the SBC encoding. So I want to ask you a question apart from my main one. I sometimes face difficulties in adding more sharpness to the picture in Nandub. Flask's picture always comes sharper than Nandub's in my experiences. Is there an additional filter that I can use to have sharper pictures in addition to the crispness modulation setting in the program?

According to you fact it seems that everything is ok. I'm affraid I can't tell you what the problem might be, sorry.

On the other question: I'm not sure there is, but you can go to http://sauron.mordor.net/dgraft and you'll find a lot of filters and links to filters. Try this site out and see what you'll find out.

I have never had any problem with this though.
Do you choose a good output resolution so you're not one of thoose guys who thinks that you'll get a better quality when using the originla res. I don't know if this might be a problem though, but I'm not sure.

The biggest resolution I use is 640x272 in a widescreen movie, so I think it's the optimumsize for Divx isn't it?

There are no optimized resolution. It depends on how high the bitrate are and how hard the movie compresses. Thoose are the two factors I know about.

- i have never experienced nandub rips to be less sharp than any other rip!

- how exactly do you use nandub?
the resizing filter is your scapegoat!

- if you dont use precise bicubic all else will look a bit 'blurry'

As for your original problem, you need to remove either LAME or Radium. I have heard of problems when these two are installed under the same system. In your case, since you're using an audio compressor that utilises LAME, Radium will have to be the one to go.

Uncas is right. It depends on what resizing filter you use in nandub. I personally use nandub and have always loved its versatility (in SBC encoding and filter choices).

I downloaded a version of LAME codec but couldn't install it. So I can't uninstall Radium. Do you know how to install it?
Strange thing is, I don't have any playback problems with the Divx movies downloaded from the net have VBR MP3 audio made by LAME codec. Sometimes this DivX thing becomes so tricky:)

The tutorial which I learned the Nandub encoding from (I think it's Doom9's) was telling to choose the precise bilinear. So you're telling that bicubic is better. Ok than I'm going to use it in my next encoding.

A question: What fast motion/low motion codec setting in Nandub would you use for the movie "Final Fantasy"? (just want to compare my settings with yours)

I also want to thank UncasMS for muxing settings of AC-3 audio. They work really fine. But again I have problems of synch with the movies encoded by Nandub. I tried every way with some movies made by Nandub but couldn't succeed in synchronization of video and audio. As you expect I never have this problem with the ones encoded by Flask:)

If Morphix uses LAME for its MP3 encoding, then it can only make sense that LAME is installed in your system. Hence, all you need to do is uninstall Radium (You can always reinstall it in the future when needed).

For nandub encoding, I use the Low-motion part. You don't really need the fast-motion part, thanks to the innovasion of DRF (Details Removal Setting). With DRF, you can, more or less, achieve the same settings as if you were using fast-motion, roughly speaking.

my nandub guide is german only, BUT take a look at the screenshots of the nandub settings i consider best for a 2 cd rip!

under 4.4 you will find two screenshots for the first two tabs:
divx and bitrate curve.

i leave all other tabs with default values except COMPRESSION LEVELS:

here i change the following:
MIN: 2 and MAX: 4 for Keyframe Quality

I used precise bicubic as you adviced in my latest rip "Sudden Impact". The result is perfect.

In 640x272 resolution, the picture looks near DVD quality even in a scene featuring some forest sightings, leaves and some other plants. The most irritating scenes for me in a Divx:) Because these kind of scenes look too much blurry and blocky in Flask as you compare them with the ones encoded with Nandub.

This time I didn't have any synch problem in muxing too.

I used the program you mentioned. It is called Avi Info and features a synchronization part called Tera Bits. It lets you change the frame rate of the movie so that it plays slower or faster and catch the sound in a way back or forth. But the problem is that it sometimes skips too much frames which becomes so recognizable and irritating while watching the movie. I can't recommend it.
