Cube problems with FLask

Earlier , in anouther thread, I was having problems getting Flask to begin encoding.
By switching the iDCt settings, that problem was sovled.

However, now, as soon as I 'Flask' the VOB file i entend to encode. and Flask opens the display screen and player, there are lines of cubes disstorting the picture in lines at regular inervals on the flask display screen. the problem is that Flask encodes the file, but includes the cubes in the resulting avi file, which makes it useless.

my settings are as follows:

Output format: AVI ( i tired OpENDML, but that didnt get rid of the cubes.)

29.97fps, 640v480

AMD 3Dnow iDCT hybrid

HQ Bicubic filtering

MPEG4 low motion codec, 1 key frame per second, 910 kbps

But the file comes up disstorted to being with, which really strikes me as odd. Yes, Ive checked the VOB, it looks fine.

As always, any help/advice would be appreciated.

I'am sorry but I don't understand a word of this, could you post a screenshot of this ?

If I recall correctly the 'AMD 3Dnow iDCT hybrid' does not conform with the IEEE spec. Try using the mmx or floating point one.

Yes, im starting to look at different methods, but if someone could tell me why Flask is doing this, id appreciate it.

This must be either a CSS problem or an iDCT problem.

How did you rip the DVD ?
Are you using the css.mism plugin for flask ?

I suggest that you rip the DVD to HD with either SmartRipper or DVDDecrypter. And throw away the css.mism plugin, if you were using that.

How did you rip the DVD ?

I use CladdXP . I checked the orginal VOB that IS on my HDD, and it looks just like it should. I can open the file in an earlier version of FLASK and it loooks fine, but encoding doesnt work so well with the eariler versions on a windows XP OS

I recently tried to dl smarripper, but havent gotten it yet. It looks mich nicer than Cladd, although ive never had any prblems with cladd.

css is short for content scrampling system. This is what is supposed to protect the hard working movie studios against the evil hackers and rippers who make illegal copies of DVD's :evilaugh:.

Anyway if you have ripped the vob's to HD and they look OK then this is not the problem.

This leaves iDCT as the primary suspect.

I've said before, I suggest you try using either the mmx iDCT, AMD x87 iDCT or the reference iDCT.

Another possibility would be that flask0.6 might be sentitive to macrovision, but I don't know if this is the case. And I don't know if clad removes macrovision). I do know that SmartRipper removes macrovision.

And just to be sure, you might also try encoding to another codec.
