Okay heres the problem, I created a DivX 5.02 avi. I want to append another file to it that is an Mpeg-1 file. I start V-Dub and load the Mpeg file. Set video and audio to full processing mode. Choose the same codecs I used for the previous avi and try to save the avi. I then get an error that says: "Cannot start video compression" "The source image format is not acceptable. (error code -2)" Doesn't V-Dub work with Mpeg files? I took the same file and encoded it with the 4.12 codec before but 5.02 just won't work with it. Is there some kind of setting I overlooked? The previous avi I made was with GKnot .026 and it came out great. Now I want to add something to it and it won't let me do it.
I want to append it with a short file that plays an "Insert Disc Two" message. Could someone help me out?

are the two files identical in terms of codec and resolution?

The Codec is the same the resolution I'm not sure. Do you mean the cropping should be the same between both files?

for example 640 x 272 and another part with 640 x 273 wont fit together!

You know something I never thought of that I'll try it out and see.
Thanks UnCasms:)

Hmm...Still get the error. Let me rephrase, I'm just trying to encode the "Insert Disk Two" clip and it won't encode to an .avi. It gives me the same error.

oh iguess i misread your first posting!
are you trying to merge different FORMATS???
that wont work
convert the second short sample to avi and make sure to pick the same codec and resolution!

No I'm not trying to merge the mpeg with the avi. I'm trying to convert the short segment from mpeg to avi, then I will append it to the one I created earlier. It just won't convert the mpeg at all.

ok, we're getting closer *g*
you tried to open it in virtualdub but that didnt work.
thus your mpeg MUST be mpeg2(svcd) not 1, for vd should be able to hanlde mpeg1!
to be able to open mpeg2 in vd you'll have to frameserve the file into vd/nandub.
-use dvd2avi, open the mpeg file.
-save project.
-now you have the choice between vfapi or avisynth
-either convert this d2v project file into a pseudo-avi with vfapi and then load this pseaudo-avi into vd/nandub
-or open the d2v project file into gordianknot (this is what i#d suggest to do), do your resizing/cropping in gordianknot and save the file as AVS, which can be loaded into vd/nandub later on.

I tried using Gknot and DVD2AVI and it seems it is not available as an option to be opened by it. Ex. Files of type MPEG-2 stream. DVD2AVI doesn't recognize it as an MPEG2. I used VCDGear to convert the original .DAT file to an MPEG. It just won't encode. Weird....Huh....

Sorry UncasMS, I forgot to tell you that I can open the file and preview it in V-Dub. It just won't encode it. I encoded in 4.12 and it resulted in .avi. Just not with 5.02.
