I normaly use the M$MPEG4V2-codec, but I wanna try the new "DivX 5.0.2 Pro". Which version should I use? The standard or the pro (adware)? What tools should I use for best results. VirtualDUB ore what else?
Hi bender
The standard version is close to identical to divx4 qualitywise. So I would suggest going for the pro version, use B-frames and gmc, Q-pel is know to produce artifacts at low bitrates. For encoding I prefer to use GKnot 0.26, if you want total control of all the encoding paremeters you will ofcause need to load the avs into virtualdub yourself. But I can't recommend using any of the deinterlace/noisereduction/chop/resize crap, that has been build into the divx5 encoder, so automatic encoding from GKnot seems to work just great.
Ohhh one other thing ...
The Psychovisual Enhancement sounds like an interresting feature, at first I was sceptical of this feature, but after reading Gej's DivX Encoding Guidelines (http://www.divx.com/support/guides/guide.php?gid=1), it seems like a sound idear. But I haven't test this much myself.
