joining avi

i joined two avi files using projectdivx and there is no sound after its done. i also tried joining avis w/ virtual dub, but it says that the two files have different bitrate for the sound. so i can't join it with virtual dub, but i can join it with project divx but the sound is gone...any suggestions to fixing my problem ? thx in advance

Open VirtualDub
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
Load the first .AVI
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From under the "Audio" dropdown menu,select "Compression" and select the format (e.g. MPEG Layer3, 44,100Hz) and sample rate (e.g. 128Kbps) that you desire.
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save AVI" and save with a new filename

Then, WITHOUT CLOSING VIRTUALDUB

Load the second .AVI
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save AVI" and save with a new filename

Your two files should now have identical format and bitrates for their audiostreams.
