Hey guys,

I know already that if you rip a DVD you get VOB files which technically are mpeg2 files. However, I'm want to work with these files in adobe premiere which doesn't recognize VOB. Is there a way to change the file to an .mpeg file without recoding it and losing quality?

Also, what suggestions to do you have a simple deinterlacing program?

Thanks,
Jim

Use PgcDemux (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/dvdtools.htm)to demux a title. You'll end up with an m2v and an ac3 (or other audio format) stream. According to this (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=328587) list, Adobe Premiere can handle m2v. VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/) or VirtualDubMod (http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/) can be used to deïnterlace (look in the filters).

It's already an MPEG2 Program Stream. Try changing the extension to .mpg, maybe Premiere will accept it then.

For simplicity/speed, use Premiere. For quality, Avisynth with TDeint or MCBob.
