Hi,

I did a bunch of google searches and at the point it said move everything out of the plugin folder. There was nothing in that folder. I extracted the AviSynth to the plugin folder but before I did that there was nothing and it also said move everything back one at a time until the error appears. The error is below. This is in VD. The way I done it, this is the first time I am getting it after a restore.

Avisynth open failed:
Avisynth: script open failed!

Chewy,

Net 2 was already installed and I also installed my XP updates. Same error with VD the AviSynth and VDMod is encountered a problem and needs to close. I use VD to encode and VDMod for the audio.

Well to be honest with you Chewy, I am not sure what the problem was. It is fixed now. After one restore all VD's stopped working. I fixed it by doing a fresh re-install of XP. Actually right now it's working fine.

Chewy or another mod or Admin. Since problem is problem is solved and I know how to fix it now, Is it a good idea for someone mark this topic SOLVED and close it at original poster's request which is me?

when all else fails do a clean install, that's good advice, few take it

when you can come back and tell us what broke avisynth, I will consider the case closed and solved

people wonder why I don't want to try more software

What is the best software to encode fully from dvd to divx/xvid?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdubmod/

1.5.10.2 build 2542 release.

seems to be the most popular, how to use and set it up is a different story

I looked for some a while back(guides) and never found anything satisfactory, it's a steep mountain to climb and it would seem, few reach the top

Thank you Chewy,

Mountain climbing barely reaches the top. True but the major I want to study it let's say 37 out of 100 becomes engineers. Why do I want to be an engineer? Well, 1.) I think I can do it and 2.) I want to work for EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) which is the Federal Government above all levels which means they are the top. 37 out of 100 is not alot graduating. What Engineering do I want? Environmental Engineering. Am I going to take the major? Yes I am. Environmental is about our environment and about sciences such as Physics, all sorts of chemistry, dynamics, mechanic fluids, fluids of mechanics, abstract mathematics and much more.

well I only made it to quantum mechanics and partial differential equations at the academy

enviromental engineering hadn't been developed yet

matter of fact sociology was the first discipline to really look hard at it, demography, population dynamics and ecology

engineering, because of the military industrial establishment was late getting on the bandwagon, money thing, first your trash the enviroment then you bleed everyone dry cleaning up your mess

job security

I understand but environment is my area. I rather help the environment and the waters, wastewaters, etc... How was partial differential? easy for you or hard?

I had a hard time relating to either one of them, of course we were worried about the cold war, not saving planet earth.

Chewy,

Here we are. You told me if I could tell you and everyone else why synth was breaking. Well yes I can. It's a matter of teaching proper commands that are not out dated. It's a matter what programs I should use the AVS command for. What plugin's and so on I should use. All of that could help me with the not breaking the synth. The command I used is below from a tutorial. How do I get it working now? Well I didn't use AVS. I took the vob files and join them together and then use VirtualDub MPEG2 to load in the file that got joined. Before I done it that way, yes I tried making a script with notepad.
MPEG2Source("dvd2avi.d2v")
