I know I've asked this before but I forgot the answer and I can't find the thread. Does anybody know why small durations of footage come out so large for me and how do I keep the size smaller? Here's an example in the image. Look at how long the footage is and then the stupid amount of disk space it took-up. You might still need to click on the attachment to enlarge it a little.
Many thanks.

It looks like it might be uncompressed. Encode it.

Many thanks for the info. I did forgot to say, this isn't a DVD file, it's an AVI file. I used Max DVD To AVI Converter to convert some of my home-movies from DVD back to AVI so that I can re-burn them to DVD. From the start this massive disc space problem has always been lingering on for me and Max DVD To AVI Converter is the only software that I found that rips my footage to AVI with perfect picture. I want to re-burn my home movies so that I can add more movie on one disc. So far I only have short ones that filled a complete DVD disc and that is dumb. I would like to save my movies under AVI where they use smaller disc space and then I can add more of my movies to one DVD disc as well as back-up my mastercopies where I can burn more mastercopies to one DVD disc.
Many thanks.

That's what I am saying - you've probably saved it as uncompressed AVI. Open it in VirtualDub and see what it says under info. Then resave it, this time picking a compressor under Video.

when ever you compress quality will go down with it? either burn to 2 dvd and save it or buy external HD and save the iso?
