Hi atifsh,

Q1: Is the Vista SP2 for 64-Bit also?

Q2: And wouldn't be downloaded from Microsoft on the Normal Updates!?!?

Thanks,

G!:)

Yes, it is and will be when it is released to the public by MS update, I would suggest for most users to wait until this happens because it will also include the SP1 removal tool needed to make sure you only have one update of certain things.

Remember the problems people had with XP SP3, where people downloaded and installed it without letting the update program run it. It should be released in the next month or so, thru normal updates, and it will install only the correct parts and erase anything that has already been updated thru previous updates when this happens.

VISTA SP2 REQUIRES SP1:) U CANT INSTALL ON FRESH VISTA AS FAR I KNOW.
SECOND THE DOWNLOAD IM TALKING ABOUT IS not xpress update but full network install, so everything will be installed and overwritten if required.

but yes everyone should wait for microsoft release, unless u feel safe with other option.

sorry bout caps, dont want to write all that again or copy paste to fix :)

Yes, it does require SP1, but I thought the DL you are talking about is the same one that was released for OEM products, maybe I am wrong about that. If it is this version I believe it does not have the SPCT in it, do you know if it does, because this I would like to know?

Thanks atifsh.

Service Pack Clean-up Tool, which was not needed (and to my knowledge not included) with the OEM disc. But again, I maybe wrong about this, when you installed the SP2 did you happen to notice this tool run?

I also thought that they had not finished writing the SPCT for Vista yet, or at least not at the time of the leak. Another reason I am not sure it is there, but believe me I have been wrong before and am sure if I do not die before I finish reading the forum that I will be wrong again.

I take it they conjure up another SPCT for each SPx?? Cuz I ran it on Vista 32 bit trying to get SP1 to go on. Didn't do me know good know how. So I just saved my Vista 32 image and put W7 32 bit on. Vista64 SP1 seems to run fine so I'm not gonna' have anything to do with updates if I can avoid it. :)

ok because sp2 requires sp1 theres no need to removing sp1. so no spct.

after sp2 what i find different is brothers laptop is now using 700 mb memory on boot and if i leave it idle for a while it drops to 600 mb then start using it it hovers round 600 - 700.
