I'm ready to pull plug on this now. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4523591&CatId=4296

I have this coming already> AMD HDZ720WFGIBOX Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition 2.8Ghz Socket AM3 95W 2.80 GHz Desktop Processor Retail

I'm debating about the memoery. Should go str8 to DDR3 on 1 of these?

What you think about 1st being intel commpatible mostly? I know you're not intel guy so just wanted to know if wiser to get regular sticks that not specific to intel or amd?

Or stick w/some DDR2 sticks at cheaper price but add more ram to board? Thnx.

Also very concerned about cpu fan and how they're not much low profile left so could pose problem w/ultra case I have which has Zalman from my build which not too far from side panel. Really don't want to have to get new case if can be avoided. Thnx. Still have Rosewill case from build but Ultra is lil larger.

1. The mobo can handle ddr3 though correct?

2. 4 GB enough to handle 64 bit 7 for future proof?

3. Been having a time of it w/Newegg. Anything you could point on Tiger Direct etc...

That free shipping's been costing me here lately in RMA returns. Thnx.

no as chewy said, that board supports ddr2 as stated on specs. but u can use upto 1333 bus of that ddr2

4 GB enough to handle 64 bit 7 for future proof?

.

as i stated earlier in different post. iv experimented and saw that if u want 64 bit OS get morethne 4 gb ram. say 6 gb for dual channel. if u have 4 gb ram the free available ram on hand will be exactly or close to what u have free on 32bit OS with 3.25 gb of ram.

in simple (not exact figures.) 32bit 7 with 4 gb ram. 3.25 available 700 mb in use. same system 64 bit 7 1.4 gb in use. do the math.

Thnx I was tired last night and missed that ddr2 spec. Now I would rather purchase some place else. Tiger has some like this comprable but not exact at or less price.

Also after more than 2 Dimms will shoot down to 800 MHz DDR2. So maybe just get 4 Dimms of or at about 800 MHz DDR 2. Get back to me on this. I'd appreciate it. Thnx.

The price on those sticks on Newegg are pretty good, but being that I'll need more to future proof in case 64 bit maybe I should just get 4 sticks of 800 MHz.

Tiger has these> http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2701646&CatId=2261

I don't want to just get 2 and if need 4 later can't find same make and model. So if going to go down in MHz then it won't matter, but I'll be going through Tiger.

Tying up loose ends. I decided to get 4 sticks of this> http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3969413&SRCCODE=WEBLET03ORDER&cm_mmc=Email-_-WebletMain-_-WEBLET03ORDER-_-Deals

This will cover me for 32 bit for sure and at 6 GB's and especially 8 GB's for 64 bit as well. Most ram is going the Gaming route nowadays anyway so I felt this was just fine. Also just my experience, but I'm through w/Newegg. Too many defective parts is a lil much for me. RMA or no RMA.

ram is verymuch fine. according to posts in that page they r getting index of bove 5. thats pretty decent. i only get 4.8 for my value ram. but maybe slow cpu or chipset also matters. i really dont care that much for windows index anyway.

atifsh I lost you on not caring that much for windows index anyway. Are you running some other OS that doesn't need index at all, w/e it is? Only index I can think off is the one that supposedly helps you access files faster that you have accessed before, which in the power user thread is disabled anyway and also recommended for disabling in other tweak guides.

lol, was talking about windows experience index , according to that thread.
