Color calibration DVD>XviD?

I used fairuse wizard 2.9x to convert my DVD movie to xvid. I used the internal xvid codec, and the external xvid codec from koepie?

The result is the 2 movies I tried to convert is too pinkish. whites appear slightly pink, and flesh tone is too pink compared to orignal dvd.

Is there any way to calibrate the colors before I encode? Or perhaps after?

No because my standalone dvd player that can play xvid and dvd shows the same issue: more pinkish color for xvid movie than the dvd.

What is of interest is that even if I used the divx codec from divx.com to encode, i get the same pinkish tint as using the xvid codecs.

Is there a fix for something like this?

The only thing I could suggest would be investigate AviSynth. Here's a couple of links to filter sites:

Quite a few video converters will let you stick in a few lines of AviSynth script. You don't have to study AviSynth for hours to use a filter or 2. In fact there is an Avi to DVD converter called D2MP (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/D2MP) that comes bundled with some filters and makes excellent AviSynth scripts. Often I would copy the script out of the log and run it in other converters such as QuEnc. The advantage of starting with D2MP is you have the lines where the libraries are loaded from the folder all done for you. But there are other apps that are editors designed just for AviSynth that have many filters in menus.

I think i foudn the source of the issue - my color profile isnt set on sRGB in Windows XP.

After setting it back the colors are all good again. Live and learn :(
