Could i play movies encoded with the latest DivX codec (5.0) using DivX 4.12 codec install in my pc?
? ? ?
Yes this is possible, but only if the divx5 files are encoded without B-frames, GMC and Q-pel.

It just is, normally when something is updated or upgraded or whatever, it becomes better.
Some say that the 3.11 codec is better that 5.02, but thats bc there are allot of diferences between them. But between 4 and 5, 5 has a few more features and better compression, so I dont know why you would choose 4 over 5.
I would understand why you would choose 3.11 over 5 though.
